|Yes, I do still exist.
So, lessee. Haven't posted in forever, but here are some random things.
Today is my birthday. Woo?
One of my favorite games got closed down recently, for no obvious reason. See: http://koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/biz/2012/12/602_126197.html
We are trying to save it; any help you can provide would be appreciated. See efforts, for example, here: http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/topic,6354.0.html
On the other hand, there are some rather shiny games still out there. See, for example, http://www.fractalsoftworks.com/

|Hey, I exist!
I don't post here much - as you may have noticed - but I figured this wasn't a bad place to mention: I am moving / have moved / something like that. If you're somebody who actually needs the new address, feel free to poke at me with a proverbial stick. (Don't bother with a real stick, though; I haven't set up mail forwarding yet, so it wouldn't get to me.)
The new apartment allows cats.

When I can feel my eyeballs vibrating, your music is too loud.

I declare myself to be mostly not dying anymore! Huzzah!
(Was sick for about three weeks.)

The network is dead! Long live the network!

Still need to make two more phone calls... but everything I needed to do to just make my existence here legal is done. Woo, CA license plates?
In other news, I've volunteered to run a demo 4th ed game at the local gaming store this Saturday. Should hopefully help me find a group to play with in the area. And, if not, should be interesting anyway.

Power? Check, though I still need to hunt down the electric company and make sure they send the bill to me instead of my landlord, so as to make sure it actually gets paid.
Internet? Well, there's an unsecured network I can access. No eta on my own service; I'll be talking to someone about that tomorrow, and we shall see what happens.
Second day of work. More forms, more traffic, more reading of soporific documentation. And also one tiny little starting bit of (gasp!) useful stuff.
The apartment I checked on this morning was, of course, sold by the time I got there. So I tried another place at random, and lo and behold, they not only have apartments, but they have one I can move into tomorrow. Er, today, if you happen to still be on east coast time.
Not the world's best apartment, or cheapest, or etc., but it's not bad on any count (at least for the area), and it's month to month rental, so I can move out if I happen onto something better.
Of course, it is the law of new apartments that it won't have power for a couple days, and won't have internet for a couple days after that. At least, that's what I'll be betting on, since I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than annoyed. We shall see. Worst comes to worst, I can just spend most of my time at my workplace where there is both power and internet.

First day of work. Full of forms, and documentation, and more forms, and traffic.
Over an hour commute (one way) is really horrid; I'll by swinging by a possible more local apartment before I show up to work tomorrow. Hope it's actually good; I'd love to cut my commute down to 15 minutes within the next week or two.

And arrived in California. Huzzah for local relatives!
Not that I'll be here for long, this time - off again on Tuesday to go to Becky's graduation - but the drive has been completed with no special excitement.

Hm. So, I've found LJ again. Driving off to CA tomorrow. Woo?

|Stuff & Nonsense
So, it occurs to me, that I haven't posted anything here in... a very long time.
Life is going fairly well, all things considered. I have a job (of uncertain duration), doing programming; there is an NDA, so I won't talk that much about it.
Video games are amazingly good at eating time, as always, though I'm starting to get a little bit bored with WoW. This won't last past the next content patch, though, I'm sure.
The most interesting thing, though, is a I-swear-it's-not-D&D game I'm running on a webforum Benabik set up for me. You can go take a look at it here
. The game isn't closed, either; I'm willing to consider new players - and I know there are a few people out there who might end up reading this who'd planned on playing, but haven't. You're welcome back, too - or not, as you choose.
Anyhow, it's a very different dynamic running that game versus running one that meets face to face; usually fairly slow paced, but with occasional flurries of action when multiple people are online at once and co-ordinating posts over AIM. I do like the post format much better than running it over AIM directly, though - a chat transcript is much more annoying to read, and this doesn't require people to neccessarily be online at the same time.

So, I've started working on my CRPG engine again. Still not yet game usable, but at least I finally implemented maps not being required to be 20x15 tiles...
Next up: I need dialog boxes.

Well, I talked with some people, and figured out where I probably want to go to get this looked at. And it's closed on weekends, and I'm feeling mostly ok-ish right now, so I'll run game if people can show up here, instead of RIT.
Game tommorrow (for those who are in it) is cancelled, as I've been in constant (albeit generally pretty low-grade) pain since I woke up and discovered I had an ingrown toenail.
I know some of you check this, but I don't know if Jen&Mike do - someone should call them, and I don't have their number.

Still in LA. Working on making Unreal Tournament teach Arabic. What else is there to say?
|Sunday, September 5th, 2004|
Hmm... I should probably post something here now. I'm in California (arrived on friday), and thus have internet access again. Work starts tuesday.

Change of plans. Heading out today. I'll be pretty much completely out of contact with the world until I get there (friday/saturday?), but then I should have internet again.
